Simple Home Remedies For Soft Skin

I love having soft, silky smooth skin, but I try hard to avoid the many chemical-filled products that are on the shelves these days. Instead of opting for expensive store brands or synthetics, I like to use these home remedy techniques here and there to help give my skin a boost and deeply moisturize the all-natural way!

BUTTERMILK
Cleopatra is known to have relied on buttermilk for her amazing skin, and now you can too! Choose whole organic buttermilk and just dab it onto your skin with a clean cloth. Let is soak in for a minute or two, then rinse off. This is a great treatment for rough spots or areas of sensitive or dry skin.

OLIVE OIL
This famous and effective home remedy for dry or cracked skin really works! Olive oil does everything from moisturize and soothe to cleanse and protect, naturally! Just apply a small amount to dry skin areas and let the olive oil work its healing magic!

AVOCADO
Mashed up avocado placed on the skin for 15-20 minutes is one of the most powerful ways to spoil your skin with hydration, nutrients, and soothing. This at-home skin mask feels amazing, and what you don't use on your skin will make some amazing home made guacamole!

Here's to beautiful and healthy skin, naturally!

3 Simple Ways To De-Stress On The Go

Let' s face it - life is stressful sometimes! From work and errands to family and health, it seems that there's always something on the burner and always things that need to be done. Our bodies and minds can handle a pretty amazing amount of stress, but sometimes it seems that just one more stressful event will get the best of us! It is in these times that we need to take a break and de-stress to protect our health, bodies, minds, and relationships. The good news is that our bodies are equipped with many ways to help relieve even the deepest stress, so with a little practice we can make big changes in a short time.

Here are three simple ways to drop your stress and feel joy once again. You can do these things just about anywhere you may be when stress sets in!

  • Breathing is the single most important thing we can do to relieve stress. When we breathe in a shallow or tense way, our bodies convey to our minds that we've got reason to panic. Ensuring that we breathe slowly, steadily, into our bellies, and with positive thoughts in our minds can literally pull the rug out from under even the most intense stress cycle. Learning about diaphragmatic breathing can transform your stress into moments of great peace and empowerment.
  • Positive thinking is extremely powerful in working with stress. Making sure that the things happening in your mind are positive, hopeful, and good can stop stress cycles and prevent your mind from digging down into negativity.
  • Gratitude can be a true game changer. The more we take time to notice and acknowledge the good things in life, the more we end up attracting them because we attune to them. Spending time each day celebrating the non-stressful things will open you up to greatness!
Here's to a stress-free and truly joyful life!

Recently we've been adding a complete line of Big Bang bracelets to the Tablina shop - and  two more amazing pieces have just found their way to the website - in green!

Hunter green is going to be one of the hottest colors of 2013. Because it compliments colors like black, orange, and yellow, it will be a grounding color that will make any outfit come together with color and texture.

The newest Big Bang bracelets both feature hand-woven hunter green silk with a variety of added elements to bring them to life...

The bracelet on the left features a sterling silver rose connected with delicate sterling silver beads to a hand-woven silk macrame style base. The piece on the right features the Tabelina dragonfly in rhodium with accents of baroque pearls.

Hot Chocolate Recipes

I'll admit it... one of the reasons I love winter so much is hot chocolate! Although it doesn't get too cold where I am, I love sending hot chocolate recipes to my friends and family across the world and enjoying this timeless sweet drink whenever I travel somewhere chilly. Today I'd like to share two of my favorite homemade hot chocolate recipes with you... enjoy!

Traditional Creamy Chocolate
makes 4 cups

1/3 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
3/4 Cup White Sugar
1 Pinch of Salt
1/3 Cup Just Boiling Water
3 1/2 Cups Whole Milk
3/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cup Half-And-Half Cream

Mix sugar, cocoa, and salt in a sauce pan. Carefully pour boiling water over into sauce pan. Stir gently while you bring it to a boil. Simmer for about two minutes. Lower the heat and stir in your milk. Allow this to heat back up to desired temperature. Pour into heat-safe mugs, and add cream to thicken and cool down hot chocolate.

Mexican Style Hot Chocolate
makes 3 cups

3 Cups Whole Milk
3 Tablespoons Drinking Chocolate, Chopped Up
1/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1 Cinnamon Stick
1/4 Teaspoon Chili Powder

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and heat while stirring until a boil begins. Remove from heat, cool for a few minutes, then pour into mugs.

Enjoy!

Setting Great New Year Resolutions

One of the best part of the New Year is being able to start fresh on any goals or dreams you have. Experts have found that setting the right kinds of goals plays a huge part in people's success, so today I'd like to share some easy resolution-making tips with you that will get you on your way to making them a reality in no time!

Here's what you need to remember... goals should be S.M.A.R.T.!

S
Simple. Your goals shouldn't be complicated or multifaceted. Make simple goals that are easy to understand and really clear to wrap your mind around. If you need to make 10 small simple goals instead of one big complex one, that's a great move.

M
Measurable. Make sure that you're able to measure your goal. How long should it take? How will you know when you've achieved it?

A
Attainable. Many times we set goals that are just too impractical... and when we do this, we set ourselves up for failure. Make sure that the goals you set fit into your budget, work with your lifestyle, and can actually be accomplished reasonably. Again, it's better to set 5 progressive goals than 1 big one. Those little victories leading up to a massive win and extremely motivating!

R
Realistic. Set resolutions that can actually be made into reality. Many people self-sabotage by creating goals that cannot actually happen. Instead of taking that route, choose things that people do everyday that you'd like to replicate in your own life.

T
True. Ensure that every single goal you make is true for you. DO NOT set goals because other people think you should. Whether it's weight loss or a new job, make sure the goal is your truth and not someone else's.

Here's to 2013 being the best year yet!

Happy New Year!

Can you believe that another year is already gone by? I am so ready for 2013 and have so many plans in the making for Tabelina and my own personal journey - I can't wait to get started!

The New Year is a time that people across the world celebrate together. This is a moment when we let go of the past, take in all the lessons we learned from it, and then look with optimism towards the brand new future ahead.

Many people use the New Year as a time to create personal goals, list out wishes, think back over the past year to see what they'd like to change, and make decisions about how to turn those changes into reality.

As the clock strikes midnight this New Year's Eve, it's important that we're all smiling and feeling good. I've often believed that the energy we have when the New Year starts just might reflect what the rest of the year will bring to us - so make sure that your New year's Eve celebration is amazing!

From the Tabelina family to you and yours...
Happy New Year 2013!
