A Month Of Thanks

Tomorrow marks the first day of November! Can you believe how fast 2013 has been moving? While many of us think of November as the month of the Thanksgiving holiday, many people choose to celebrate thanks and gratitude all month long which is what I'd like to do this year. November is gratitude month, and I'd like to share a few ideas with you about how you can turn this fall season month into one of great thanks, joy, and healing!

The Power Of Gratitude

The more we express gratitude for the small and big things in life, the more of them we get. Taking time to say thank you to others and to be in awe and gratitude at life itself heals and opens our hearts and keeps us in a positive state of mind. Our hearts are light and our smiles are big as we walk though life noticing all of the amazing things that happen at every moment.

Gratitude has the ability to flush us of negativity, remove blockages, uplift our spirits, and bring us great luck. The more we cultivate it, the more we'll end up having to be grateful for each day!

How To Celebrate Gratitude Month

There are endless possibilities for how you can make this a month of healing and joy, but here are a few of my personal favorites...

  • Take time at the end of each day as you fall asleep to recall your whole day and express gratitude for the big and small things that happened.
  • Make sure to say 'thank you' to the people in your life who deserve to hear it.
  • Work on a list all month long on your smart phone or on a piece of paper for things that you're grateful for. See how many entries you can get before the end of the month!
  • Use social media like Facebook and Twitter to share something you're grateful for each day. You can even get really creative and snap a photo each day that reflects what you're most thankful for.
  • Write thank you notes to people who you may have been overlooking for a while.
  • Every time you look in a mirror take a moment to thank yourself and express gratitude for the amazing person you are!
Pretty simple, right?

November can become a month of deep healing and great empowerment if we infuse it with the energy and intention of gratitude. I hope you'll join me in making this a magical month to remember!

Happy Halloween!

Halloween is just a couple of days away and I am so excited! I love this time of year - the changing season, the holidays, the kids trick-or-treating, and all the decorations and festivities. In celebration of the spooky season, I'd like to share a few last minute things you can do to transform your Halloween celebration and make this a year to remember!

Decor

Today is the perfect day to pick up pumpkins for carving! If you create your pumpkin masterpiece today it will still look fresh and vibrant on Halloween night.

Mock spiderwebs that get put up too early often get tangled and matted as the winds and water happen. Today would be a great day to put them out and have them looking perfectly for trick-or-treaters.

Food

There are so many amazing foods that make this season what it is!
Try some of these amazing treats for the rest of the week...
  • Apple Cider
  • S'mores
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Homemade Chili
  • Homemade Candy
  • Herbal Tea
This is a great time of year to try cooking something new in your own kitchen!

Celebrations

When the spooky trick-or-treaters come knocking on your door this Thursday, have something special in store for them! Try answering your door in costume or with simple face paint, turn on colored lights or haunted house background music, or decorate your doorway to really set the mood.

Candy is a favorite treat among all the haunts, but you can give out other treats if you want to get creative. Dried fruit bags, small toys, crayons, sidewalk chalk, or even fruit leather make great candy alternatives!

Happy Halloween!

Fall Essential Oils

One of the best parts of the autumn season is the many smells that come up at this time of year. As the weather cools down, many people find themselves baking more which leads to houses filled with delicious fragrances. There's also a lot happening outside with the changes in nature, and many amazing seasonal scents fill the air.

I'm a huge fan of scent, so today I thought it would be fun to explore some of the essential oils that can bring warm, joyful energy to your home all season long. Essential oils are great to work with because they are all natural, contain no harsh chemicals, and can even have health benefits!

Adding essential oils to a diffuser or dish with water can help fill your home with amazing fragrances that are perfect for the season... and there are many great diffusers to choose from now days that make it easy to work with all types of oils and oil blends.

While essential oils are natural, keep in mind that some of them can be quite strong. Use sparingly until you know their strength, and always dilute properly before using them on your body.

Sweet Orange

This is a classic fall scent! It blends the sweet, tangy fragrance of orange with that rich scent of the fall season. Orange works well on its own or combined with spicy scents like anise or cinnamon.

Sage

Sage is a clean, cooling, and uplifting scent that brings a light spicy note to the season. It works well on its own or added to floral blends as a balancer.

Clove

This is the best of the best for the holiday season! Clove brings fresh baked goods and warm nights by the fire to mind, and it's also very cleansing for the home and air!

Cinnamon

Cinnamon essential oil is a sweet and spicy balance that brings joy and comfort to the home. It blends well with many other spices, and it helps us feel warm and comfy when we smell it.

Juniper Berry

As we get closer to the wintertime, adding juniper berry to your favorite essential oil aromatherapy blend is a great way to herald the season. It's a combination of sweet and evergreen, and it instantly recalls fresh cut pine trees.

Try some of these essential oils in your own home in a diffuser or potpourri blend!

A Fabulous Bag For Fall Style

Fall is here and it's time to get out in the crisp autumn air and enjoy the changing season. Fall brings the start of the holiday season - the perfect time to get out and go celebrate with friends and family. To make this a stylish and simple season for all of us, I designed the AMANDA yellow tote! The color is the perfect match for the season and the over sized space inside makes it perfect to always have just what you need wherever you may go. 3 Herbal Teas For Fall Sipping

Herbal tea is a wonderful and healthy drink to enjoy during the fall time. It's warm, comforting, and aromatic - and it can help the body adjust to the changing season so that illness and discomfort can be avoided! Today I'd like to share just 3 amazing herbal teas you can sip this autumn season to warm your body and your heart!

Chamomile

This perennial favorite is a wonderful fall-time drink. Chamomile has an earthy yet sweet flavor, aroma, and color that works really well with the season. The name Chamomile is based on the Greek 'Ground Apple' because this flower smells so much like a fresh fall apple!

Chamomile herbal tea can be enjoyed by itself or mixed with milk and honey. Steep for just 6 minutes in hot water to avoid any floral bitter tastes.

Anise

Star anise is a superstar in many fall recipes - but did you know it makes an amazing herbal tea as well? This beautiful seed pod combines sweet and spicy together while also delivering lots of great cold-season healing benefits.

Anise herbal tea can help soothe a sore throat and warm chilled bones, and the scent alone is perfect for this time of year!

Dandelion Root

This earthy, coffee-like herbal tea is a champion among herbalists. It helps detoxify the body, cleanse the blood, purify the organs, and put a smile on anyone's face. Many herbal tea enthusiasts blend roasted dandelion root with chicory to create a comforting and warming herbal tea that replaces coffee.

Dandelion Root comes from the very same 'weed' that grows in most lawns. but it's important to make sure the root you use comes from the right species of plant that is fully organic.

When you experience dandelion root tea you'll be amazed at the unique and rooted flavor it offers!

I hope you'll enjoy some healing herbal tea this season!

3 Home Remedies For Fall Colds

Fall is a beautiful time of year when the world changes colors and the temperatures cool down. While many people look forward to the colors and holidays that happen in autumn, colds can ruin everything! To help you and your family have an amazing fall season without all the sniffles and coughs, I'm going to share 3 simple home remedies to help get rid of any bugs that pop up before they become a problem.

Water Is Healing!

When the body becomes dehydrated, illness happens faster. Because the weather cools down many people don't realize that they can dehydrate just as easy as they can in hotter months. The crisp, arid air makes it easy for the body to lose hydration, and when this happens the mucous lining of the respiratory system can be less able to trap sickness in the air before it settles in.

Staying hydrated by drinking enough water each day is a great way to prevent and help heal any colds or coughs you end up with. Herbal tea is another great way to get water with the healing power of nature!

Steam Baths

Bathing your entire respiratory system in soothing steam can help cleanse, clear, and moisturize where it's needed most. Try gently inhaling steam from a kettle through the nose. Stay far enough away to avoid burns. Inhale deeply into the lungs while allowing the steam to nourish and soothe the lining of the nose, throat, and lungs.

Sleep & Stress

Since holidays start happening during the fall, many of us experience a spike in stress levels. Stress weakens the immune system and makes it really hard for our bodies to get sleep and to fight off colds. Making sure that you stay calm, cool, and collected while also getting enough deep, restful sleep could be all it takes to help keep you feeling great all season long!

Here's to a happy and healthy autumn season!

Pumpkin Carving Patterns

Halloween is just around the corner - can you believe it?

One of my favorite activities at this time of year is carving pumpkins, and now is the perfect time to get started! The farmers have all brought in their harvests and the biggest and brightest pumpkins are available now for purchase. This is a great time of month to choose what kinds of designs you'd like to create and then plan a day to dig in and create your own jack-o-lanterns!

To help you and your family create the most amazing pumpkins this year, I've collected a bunch of websites where you can download and print beautiful stencils and patterns. These patterns make it simple to create artist-quality pumpkins without all the hassle!

To use your pumpkin stencil, you just print them out and attach them to your pumpkin using masking tape. You can then follow the pattern with a poker to create lines, or even transfer the design directly to your pumpkin using transfer paper from a craft store.

Here are a few of my favorite online stencil resources...

3 Surprising Colors That Look Great During The Fall

Fall is just around the corner and the world is about to come alive with a new palette of colors that are sure to dazzle the eyes. Many people have a hard time finding the right colors to wear during the fall because Mother Nature puts on such a colorful show, so this week we're going to look at 3 colors you can use all season long to accent and harmonize with the natural colors all around.

Avoid The Clash!

The most important thing to remember when dressing for fall is that you don't want to compete too much with the natural colors in the environment. Changing leaves will take on fiery hues while the natural earthy tones of brown and tan will come to life as the ground starts to prepare for winter. While you can add these colors as accents, it's best not to make them too dominant in your overall look. Think in terms of matching yourself as an accessory to the colorful scene around you.

Antique White

An off or antique white is a simple way to bring color and light to your outfit as the days get shorter. You can use this color in big ways or just choose it as an accent to lighten up otherwise heavy colored outfits.

Off while, cream, and antique white all make great choices for scarves, wraps, tops, and shoes.

Black

That's right! Even though the season is getting darker, don't be afraid to use black to your advantage! Try adding this classy color as noticeable accents in belts, accessories and shoes. It will actually frame out lighter colors and help you stand out among the changing seasonal palette.

Organics

Adding colors like pumpkin orange, zucchini green, and canary yellow to your style can help you match up with the natural colors around you without competing with them directly. If orange is the big color outside, choose a more grounded and organic shade to help align your look without being overpowering.

Pretty simple, right?

Make this season one of color and light by adding these tones to your look every day!

3 Home Remedies That Smooth Out Wrinkles

The appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is a natural part of the skin's aging process- but it's one that we'd all rather put off until later! The good news is that the skin is a living, vital organ that is built on elasticity and regeneration. When treating with TLC, we can reverse the signs of aging and help keep our skin looking toned and smooth for years to come. This week I'd like to introduce you to 3 easy ways that you can combat lines and wrinkles on your own face by using simple all-natural products that may even already be on your pantry shelves!

Vitamin C & Deep Cleansing

The combination of mashed up organic strawberries with local honey can deliver a powerful boost of vitamin C to the skin which has been shown to aid in minimizing wrinkles and protecting the skin. The addition of honey helps detox and deeply cleanse the skin making it look and feel younger and healthier!

Coconut Bliss

Massage is a powerful and effective way to tone the skin, tighten skin tissues, detox, and bring new blood flow and nutrients where they're needed most.

A gentle massage of small outward circles using organic coconut oil provides a wealth of nutrients and movement to the skin which exercises it and feeds it at the same time! This is a great before-bed routine.

Be Gentle

Many experts believe that the way we treat our skin during the day and night can lead to premature wrinkling. Avoiding sleeping on your face, not tugging at the skin when applying makeup, and not preventing yourself from laughing, opening your mouth, or smiling big can all be great ways to tone, exercise, and relax the skin in its natural ways.

Try these simple techniques and share your experiences in the comments below!

Brown & Purple For Fall 2013 Style

I am so excited to be introducing fall 2013 designs to the Tabelina shop! One of my favorite new pieces combines two colors that are sure to be a big hit in the upcoming season: rich brown and royal purple. Brown is a classic fall color because it helps contrast what we wear with the changing leaves and vibrant sky colors that happen this time of year. Many stylists look to seasons and natural cycles to define the colors that should be used at any given time - and brown is always best in the autumn! Royal purple will be a special hot color this year and it will help offset the vibrant reds and oranges of the season while adding a grounded and elegant color to any look.
The brown & purple Big Bang bracelet has been designed with a variety of textures and colors that make it a focal piece in any outfit you wear.

The vibrant royal purple string is woven to create texture and depth, and it's extremely comfortable to wear!
Purple faceted crystals bring light and energy to the piece while keeping it classy and clean.
Towards the center there are two pave long beads that bring color, light, and attraction to the piece - and they frame the gold colored Tabelina logo.

This bracelet can be adjusted to fit just about any wrist size, and it's extremely comfortable to wear with any outfit style.

3 Amazing Uses For Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is all the rage right now - and for good reason! This superfood packs a lightly sweet coconut flavor and an array of health benefits so long that people simply cannot resist adding it to their diets. I've been a fan of coconut oil for some time and now and have really enjoyed the many healing properties it offers. Today, I'd like to share just a few of the best benefits with you and encourage you to try this sweet oil for yourself!

Skin Sensation

Coconut oil is deeply moisturizing and rich in minerals and vitamins. It is so light that it quickly absorbs into the skin to a deep level and leaves the skin looking and feeling amazing!

Coconut oil can be applied directly to the skin in very small amounts just like your usual moisturizer. Try using it after a gentle cleanse before bed and when you wake up you'll be thrilled at how your skin looks! You can also apply a thin layer during the day to help keep your skin smooth and soft and to help block the sun!

Brain Food

Coconut oil is packed with essential fats that support proper brain function, memory, and sharpness. The fats that coconut oil uses are processed differently in the body than usual fats so they aren't the kind that cause weight issues as we'll discuss next.

Try adding a bit of coconut oil to your morning coffee, tea, or smoothie to seriously upgrade the healing benefits you get!

Weight & Appetite Management

Taking coconut oil help your body feel full longer so that hunger isn't popping up due to habit. If you are looking to cut back on how much you eat or change your relationship to food, adding coconut oil to your diet may be the perfect way to help make it happen!

In addition, coconut oil has such an amazing flavor that it can help curb a sweet tooth!

Try coconut oil for yourself and let me know what you think!

3 Ways To Protect Your Skin From Cancer

Did you know that skin cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in our world today - and that it is also one of the easiest to prevent? Taking a few minutes to love your skin every single day can make all the difference in the world and could help keep your skin looking young and healthy while also preventing skin cancer! Check out these 3 ways to protect your skin from cancer and add them to your life today!

1. Sunscreen

The #1 best thing you can do to preserve the youthful look and feel of your skin while also preventing skin cancer is to use a high-end sunscreen all day, every day. Sunscreen prevents the damaging rays of the sun from penetrating in your skin which means no burns, no pigment issues, and no harm! Sunscreen can be found in many cosmetics, moisturizers, and sprays so it's easier than every before to get the sun protection you need with none of the fuss. If sunscreen isn't part of your daily self-care routine, now is the time to start using it!

2. Stay Away From The Fake Bake

Tanning beds are believed to be the culprit in many skin cancer issues. The rays that are produced in tanning beds is concentrated and intense - two things that your skin really won't appreciate. When you spend even just a 5 or 10 minute session in a suntan bed you are drenching your body's largest organ in rays that it simply may not be able to handle. While the resulting tan may be beautiful, the long term effects may not.

As an alternative, use clothing, accessories, light play in the sun, or skin products to give yourself color!

3. Dress For Success

The clothing you wear can play a huge role in how many harmful sun rays make it into your skin. On hot, sunny days it's a good idea to wear clothing that will shade your skin from the sun while also keeping you cool. Featured Bracelet : Mariana Pearl Bracelet

What happens when you layer the elegance and light of freshwater pearls with the classic look of gold and tie it all together with dazzling pave beads? The Mariana Pearl Bracelet! This 3-tiered bracelet is all about combining classic elegance elements with the progressive and trendy architecture you've come to expect from Tabelina designs. I designed this piece as part of my most popular 2013 collection and I know it will remain a favorite for many seasons to come!
Freshwater pearls create the focus of this elegant layered piece. The pearls are round in shape making them among the rarest in the world, and we have chosen only the best quality and color pearls to use in these pieces.

I have always been a fan of how gold compliments the look of freshwater pearls. The gold colored pave beads add texture and light, and they help offset the smooth gold bar that ties the bracelet together. I've also added in a gold colored Tabelina crystal dragonfly charm to make sure the energy and statement is just right.

This bracelet is built on a durable stretch material so that it can be put on in a jiffy with no hassle. It's extremely comfortable to wear, and the three layers will always sit perfectly on your wrist.

3 Reasons To Make Stretching A Part Of Your Workout

Most people know that stretching is a great way to warm up muscles and get in the right headspace for a workout, but did you know that they offer a huge array of benefits to your health and happiness on their own? Stretching is so valuable that many modalities of exercise and fitness such as tai-chi, qi gong, yoga, pilates, and xstretch have used basic stretching techniques to literally transform peoples' lives. Today, I'd like to encourage you to add stretching to your daily workout program by sharing three amazing reasons why a good stretch can change everything!

Detox

In order for our bodies to detox properly, they need movement. Lactic acids, toxins, and other materials that get trapped in muscles and tissues need to be worked out with proper diet and exercise. Stretching is a simple and highly effective way too get a deep and thorough detox every day since it opens up the muscles, stretches tissues, and gets blood moving all over.

While normal everyday movement like walking helps with detox and cleansing, stretching may help you get deeper while also moving internal organs and parts of the body that don't get much attention with usual movement. If you can feel your stretch, it's a good thing!

Slim & Toned

One of the best ways to get tight, smooth, and toned looks everywhere on your body is to stretch. Stretching tonifies the muscle fibers so that they have that silky smooth look while maintaining their strength. It also helps work out the elasticity of the skin which can get rid of sagging and wrinkles! Stretching makes the body move and adjust the way it holds weight which can lead to greater fat burning and better toning overall no matter what style of exercise you do.

Stress Reduction

Many people stretch just for the smile! Taking time for a 5-10 minute gentle stretch session can get your blood moving, warm you up, activate the pleasure centers of the brain, and generate feelings of well-being and peace. Yoga and Tai-Chi are prime examples of stretching modalities that also have meditative aspects due to the way they encourage the body to open up, relax, and harmonize.

If stretching isn't part of your daily routine, check out some simple routines online and see what all the reach is about!

Featured Earrings : The Taylor Line

This week I'd like to introduce you to two new earring sets that have just been released on Tabelina. The 'Taylor' earrings are the perfect shape to get light and movement to your look while being light and adaptable to any style. I designed these pieces to work really well with dressed up and casual looks alike, so you'll be getting a whole lot of diversity with just one pair of earrings!
The Taylor Teardrop Hoop Earrings shown above are a perfect 3" length and are gold filled. They convey such a powerful amount of reflection and light that they simply cannot go unnoticed!

The gold color and teardrop shape are classic elements of a dressed up look, while the texture is playful and fun. I love combining parts of play and refinement in my designs and I love what happens when they come together in synergy.
Stylists and fashionistas are saying that this season it's all about movement. When we can get our accessories to dance and swing in harmony with the way we move, the effects are dazzling! The issue is that many women find that moving earrings put excess weight on their lobes which can lead to everything from soreness and redness to headaches and stiff muscles. I designed the Taylor Triple Cascade Hoop Earrings shown above to deliver all the movement with none of the heavy weight. These light, layered earrings are a pleasure to wear and are made with the same high-end gold filled metal as those shown earlier.

3 Reasons To Eat More Chocolate

You read that right! I'm about to share 3 really healthy reasons for you to get more chocolate in your diet - and if it happens every day, that's just fine! Chocolate is actually considered to be a superfood by many experts, and using it as a healthy way to curb a sweet tooth in moderation each day could help deliver a whole wealth of benefits that may keep you smiling.

Before enjoying chocolate for its health benefits, make sure that you get the right kind. Sweetened, processed, or milk chocolate varieties are not what we're talking about here. Instead, go for pure dark chocolate that's made from true cacao. If you prefer milk chocolates or sweetened types, dark may take some getting used to but you'll soon fall in love. Try sucking on dark chocolate pieces instead of biting and chewing them... you'll feel the positive effects in minutes!

Anxiety & Stress Relief

Pure chocolate has an array of essential minerals that can help the brain think, feel, and process better. It's a known fact that the right minerals can help soothe and calm the nerves while also calming the mind, and chocolate is a great way to get them.

Chocolate offers a lift in mood that can soothe anxiety and stress while giving you something positive and delicious to love yourself with. It's a win-win!

Depression & Moodiness

There may be a really good reason why some of us instinctively crave chocolate when we feel sad, depressed, or moody. Chocolate adds a little kick to the step and a sweet treat to even the saddest of days. Its many minerals and nutrients in combination with its natural sweetness can help chase away the blues and put a smile on your face.

Weight Loss

Adding a few pieces of organic, all-natural dark chocolate to your diet every day is a wonderful way to curb your sweet tooth and treat yourself after a long day without going overboard on high calorie sweets. A few small pieces of dark cacao can get the job done so that you don't turn to pastries, cakes, cookies, or ice cream - all of which have a massive calorie and sugar content.

3 Home Remedies For Dry Skin

No matter how beautiful your Tabelina jewelry is or how flawless your outfit may be, dry skin seems to get attention and take away from how great you feel. While not all dry skin issues can be seen, some cause flaking and redness which can be embarrassing and frustrating to deal with. If you're ready to soothe and heal dry skin for good so that you can get back to enjoying your summer, try these 3 all natural remedies for healthy looking skin all season long!

Steer Clear Of Chemicals

One of the biggest causes of dry skin goes unnoticed by most people. The chemicals we use every day can cause havoc on our delicate skin, so keeping clear can change everything. When it comes time for household cleaning, washing, scrubbing, and polishing, put on a pair of neoprene or vinyl cleaning gloves to keep the bad stuff off your skin!

Exfoliate & Hydrate

When dry skin kicks in it can be hard for your body to stop the process and get on top of the cycle. A gentle exfoliation with a dry brush, salt scrub, or sugar scrub can remove layers of dry skin so that your body can work to get healthier skin on the surface. A great part of an exfoliation is following up with an all natural moisturizer like coconut oil or shea butter.

Nourish

Your skin needs nourishment just like the other organs in your body. Making sure that your diet is rich in clean water, raw fruits, and organic veggies will make sure that your skin has access to all of the minerals and vitamins that help it feel and look amazing.

Pretty simple, right?

Remember that your skin is the largest organ you have and it's your first line of defense against all kinds of illness and infection - plus it's the first thing people see when they meet you! Take time for your skin and it will reward you abundantly!

How To Make Your Own Vitamin Water

Vitamin water is all the rage! It allows us to stay hydrated in this heat while also enjoying something a little more interesting than the plain taste of water. While most vitamin waters are a great addition to any plan, some are no better than soda. Sodium, sugar, artificial colors and flavors, and preservatives are often added to commercial vitamin waters, and many of them are packaged in materials that are hard on the environment. Staying hydrated and happy is so important, so I'd like to share a simple way that you can create all natural vitamin water in your own kitchen today!
The Benefits Of Vitamin Water

Staying hydrated helps keep your skin and hair looking and feeling great. It also helps muscles heal faster from workouts and helps your body balance weight and flush out toxins. Hydration is essential for our bodies, and since we're made up mostly of fluids, it's important to keep fresh water in the body all the time - especially when it's hot out.
What You Need

In order to make your own vitamin water you only need a few things...

  • A glass pitcher or other glass jar
  • A variety of fruits like berries, citrus, and even cucumber
  • A refrigerator
How To Make Your Vitamin Water

In order to create your own vitamin water, you'll need to slice up your fruits into thin pieces. There's no wrong way to do this, and the more fruit you use the stronger your water will taste. Thin slices help make sure that the fruit fully infuses its many vitamins, minerals, and flavors into the water. Add your fruits to the container and top it off with cool water. Place the container in the fridge for 6-12 hours. You can taste along the way to get the perfect flavor.

After steeping, just remove the fruit with a slotted spoon, colander, or sieve and pour the water into a clean glass to enjoy!

These make amazing treats at parties, and it's super easy to make it in large pitchers!

Enjoy!

5 DIY Uses For Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is by far one of my most favorite plants. I love the cactus and succulent look it carries, its fragrance, and the low-maintenance way in which it grows. This is a truly must-have plant in any home, and its beauty is rivaled only by its countless healing benefits. Today, I'd like to share just 5 of my favorite ways to use aloe vera as a home remedy. Enjoy!

Minor Burns

Grabbed a hot pan? Oil splatter? Match burned down too far? Aloe vera comes to the rescue! A little fresh aloe vera gel applied to mild burns can help bring on soothing relief and protection for your skin while the healing starts. While you should not use aloe on severe burns, it's a great remedy to have around for those common household accidents.

Bites & Stings

During this time of year many people complain about constant bug bites and the irritation they bring. A dab of aloe vera gel can stop itching, swelling, and irritation at the site of a big bite or sting while soothing and helping the skin to heal at the same time.

Cold Sores

It turns out that applying fresh aloe vera gel to cold sores can help sooth the heat and irritation they bring while also helping to cleanse and heal the area at the same time. Apply the gel generously throughout the day and be surprised at how fast you heal!

Stretch Marks

Applying aloe vera gel liberally every day can help deliver nutrients to the skin that may help shrink stretch marks naturally!

Removing Eye Makeup

A little aloe vera gel and some gentle massaging can help take off your eye makeup without the use of harsh, potentially dangerous chemical makeup removers.

If you don't have an aloe vera plant growing in your home, now is the perfect time to adopt one! Cut just what you need from the tips of the leaves using sharp scissors or a clean utility knife. Over the time the plant will self-propagate and make aloe vera babies you can transplant into other pots or areas of your garden!

Enjoy!

Joyful Colors For Summer Styles

Summer is in full swing and this week I want to share a few colors with you that are known to increase our feelings of joy and happiness while also helping us look amazing under the bright summer sun!

Colors are not only beautiful - they also have a deep connection with mood and feeling. It is known that certain colors have the ability to call forth certain moods, memories, and even chemical changes in the body - and many people use this to their advantage. Color healing is popular among many alternative healers, and even businesses use certain colors to create feelings and experiences in their customers.

Orange

Orange is perhaps the most famous of all summer colors. It reminds us of fresh citrus fruits, blooming flowers, and the sun itself.
Orange is a color that is associated with will power, self esteem, and drive. It helps us feel energized and powered up while keeping us grounded in our sense of self.
Wear orange this summer on a first date, to an interview, or anytime you need a little boost in self confidence!

Yellow

Yellow is all about gentle warmth. It goes with more colors than most people realize, and it makes a great color in accessories.
The light of the sunshine and its loving warmth is represented by yellow. This is the color of true joy that is used in get well cards, flower arrangements, and even recovery room walls to help reconnect us to a sense of happiness and well-being.
Wear yellow to celebrate, get happy, lift heavy emotions, and feel connected to the light all around you!

White

White is a wonderful summer color because it reflects the light of the sun and helps you stand out in a crowd.
White is associated with light, purity, energy, and spirituality - and it can be a wonderful addition to any outfit.
Wear white when you want to connect with your true self, experience healing, or reflect the good things happening around you in life.

This summer try out new colors that you may not have much experience with and see how they feel for you!

Happy Summer!

The Tabelina Mission

I am so proud of where Tabelina has gone over the past 2 years, and I am truly grateful for the many experiences and adventures it's brought to me. Today, I thought it would be fun to share a little bit with you about the mission, purpose, and energy behind the Tabelina brand and why I started this brand in the first place.

My name is Isabel Cancela, and in 2011 I officially launched Tabelina. This line had been a dream for many years, and it took a whole lot of courage and faith to leap into where it might take me. It all started with a passion for women's style and a lot of ideas and creations in my mind - and all of that led to where I am now with hard work, perseverance, and support from friends and family.

The name 'Tabelina' was inspired by my Grandmother who used to call me that as a pet name when I was small in Cuba. When I moved to the U.S.A., I brought this name with me as a connection to my family and the amazing gifts I was given as a child from my family.

The Tabelina brand is all about energy and intention. I design each piece myself and ensure that it will fit seamlessly into the lives of women who want to stand out without putting and endless amount of effort into it. I love to design playful and fun yet serious and even sexy pieces that help women feel amazing!

One of the things you'll see frequently throughout my shop is the Tabelina Dragonfly logo. I designed this to convey the meaning and energy of what I have tried to create with this brand and hope that whenever you see it, it will bring up those good feelings and ideals within yourself. The logo is a graceful and majestic dragonfly - one of my favorite creatures. It has the body of a woman with a heart for her head. It reminds us that it's okay to 'think with our hearts' and embrace the depth and power of our emotional tapestry.

As you explore the many creations being offered at Tabelina, I hope you'll carry the message of the dragonfly with you!

~Isabel

Simple Steps To Super Soft Skin!

At this time of year with all the sun, sweat, and sand it's more important than ever to take great care of your skin - and to have healthy, soft feeling skin as well! Today I'm going to share two easy things you can do to help cleanse, soften, and tone your skin with no hassle and no super expensive products, either!

Dry Brushing

Using a dry brush is one of the most popular ways to detox the skin, cleanse the pores, and soften the skin as well. People are using dry brushes all over their bodies to increase circulation, push out toxin buildup, and gently brush away dead skin cells that cause dull, lifeless looking skin.

In order to dry brush properly, you must use the right brush. Choose a brush made specifically for dry brushing the skin and follow the manufacturer's instructions for best results.

Dry brushing should be followed up with a shower or hydrating facial wash to help moisturize and soothe the skin.

Exfoliate

Using an exfoliating scrub is another great way to remove dead skin cells, clear away embedded dirt and toxins, and bring more blood flow to the surface of your skin.

You can purchase exfoliating scrubs from your favorite skin care supply companies or make your own at home. Either way, make sure that you only put the best ingredients on your skin - it's the largest and one of the most important organs you have!

Here's a super easy exfoliating scrub you can make at home...

1 cup Small Grain Sugar
1/4 cup Organic Coconut Oil, warmed to liquid state
1 Tbs. Local Organic Honey

Combine all ingredients well in a canning jar with a lid. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
Use a small amount and very gently massage the scrub in small circles on your face. Rinse off when done.

Home Remedies For Summer Bug Repellent

Summer is in full swing and the bugs are out in full force! There are many options for getting the bugs to 'bug off', but many of them contain harmful chemicals or scents that simply ruin the fun summer mood. Today, I'd like to share some all natural home remedies for bug repellent that you can use anytime, anywhere to keep the bugs away!

White Vinegar

One of the oldest and most beloved tricks in the book is to dab or spritz a small amount of white vinegar on the skin. Bugs hate the smell and taste, and humans love the fact that the smell vanishes in a matter of minutes. White vinegar is extremely safe, and since it's so cheap, you can always have some on hand!

Basil Herbal Tea

It turns out that bugs hate basil as much as we love it! Brew a strong herbal tea with basil then dab or spritz wherever you need it most. This will keep for several days if refrigerated.

Lemon Balm Plants

Lemon Balm (also called Melissa in some areas) is a beautiful, lush herb that has a light lemony fragrance and a hardy appearance. The sweet fragrance and vibrant colors are a wonderful addition to the summer as long as you aren't a bug! It turns out that just having some Lemon Balm plants around can cut back on how many bugs want to hang out at your picnic. You can also rub the leaves on your skin or create a tea similar to the basil tea mentioned above and use it as a refreshing bug-repelling spray.

Stay bug and bit free this summer... naturally!

Bling Is The Thing This Season!

From Elle to Glo, the hottest trend-setting magazines are all buzzing with this season's hottest styles... and it looks like the forecast is filled with gems, glitter, shine, and light! I am so thrilled about what's hot this season because I'm a big fan of adding light, color, and texture to my designs with the use of gems. I love the way they reflect and become a part of the outfit being worn, and I really love how versatile they can be. There's something about a good shiny piece that can compliment the most causal look while also being perfect for the most dressed up look.

Image by Humanfeather / Michelle Jo

What's Gem Got To Do With It?

The reason why gems are so hot this season is all about light. Gems, whether actual gemstones or cut glass or fabricated crystal pieces, are faceted to reflect light. The many points and planes on a gem catch every ray of color and light that comes their way and turn it into dazzling shine that gets attention and pulls any look together. Even the smallest and most humble gem pieces can add an amazing amount of light, color, and energy to any look.

Color Is In

Gems reflect light which means they also reflect color. Colored stones will add that shade to whatever you wear, while colorless stones will take on the hues of your outfit and surroundings. Just one bracelet or necklace with a gem accent is enough to create interest and texture and tie the entire outfit together.

Be Bling!

If wearing colored or faceted stones is new to you, this is the season to see what all the rage is about! Pick up a piece from Tabelina.com, or explore with stacking and layering to create your own unique look!
