Make A Magical Springtime

I love Springtime, and I always try to get out as much as possible and take advantage of the perfect weather. No mater where you are in the world, the spring is a great time to reconnect with nature, get some exercise, complete some goals, and just have a good time! Today, I thought it would be fun to share some ideas that you can use this year to have a truly magical springtime! From creativity and learning to connecting with the earth and nurturing our soul, add some of these easy and affordable activities to your life this season and reap the rewards for seasons to come!

Gardening

One of the most therapeutic, fun, and educational things you can do on your own or with your family in the spring is garden. Planting just a few things in a small area or working with pots and containers is a great way to reconnect with the earth, get your hands dirty, and participate in the growing season! Flowers, veggies, fruits, and herbs are all easy to work with and can make a very rewarding project.

Sidewalk Chalk

Grab some sidewalk chalk and your kids and take art outdoors! This is the perfect activity to bring color and smiles to your sidewalks, driveways, and retaining walls this season!

Nature Walk

This is a great time of year to spend as much time as you can outside. Make it a point to take walks several times a week and pay attention to what you see nature doing right now. What plants can you identify? Which neighbor has the best garden? Are there any plants you want for your own yard? Connecting this way inspires the imagination and relieves stress - a total win!

Home Improvement

If there are some things around your home that need an upgrade, consider tackling some of them on your own. Learning to handle household repairs can be easier than you think with the right book or online videos, and it's extremely empowering (and great bragging rights!) to know that you can handle the job yourself.

Spring is going to be amazing this year - enjoy!

Easy Herbs For Any Garden

No matter how much room you have to work with, you can grow herbs! From small windowsill planter boxes to plots of space in the backyard, growing healing herbs is a fun and empowering way to connect with nature and the good things it has to offer.

As Spring comes around, it's a great time to start thinking about things you could plant at your own home. You don't need many supplies, and there are many hearty herbs that will grow big and strong and forgive you if you forget to water them on time.

Some of the herbs that may work great in container boxes and pots include...

  • Lavender
  • Basil
  • Thyme
  • Chamomile
  • Chrysanthemum
  • Sage
  • Oregano
These tough herbs don't need a lot of TLC, and they add a big amount of beauty, fragrance, and color to anywhere you place them.

If you are lucky enough to have some outdoor space, you may want to consider planting a variety of herbs to see which do best in your garden. You'll want to read up about each herb you plant to see how much water, sun, and cultivation it needs to create the best healing herbs possible.

No matter where you grow, you're sure to enjoy plucking fresh herbs whenever you need them! They add amazing flavor to meals that far surpasses the taste of dried herbs, and their many natural healing benefits are strong and potent!

Sacred Food

Everybody loves to eat! Food is a way to celebrate life, family, friends, and the good things on our path. But did you know that food can also be a deeply spiritual experience that helps us create more joy, inspiration, health, and connection in our lives?

For thousands of years people have said prayers and blessings over their food as a way to honor the power of sustenance and to express their gratitude. Sometimes these blessings and prayers are specific to a particular religion or tradition, while other times they are just a sentiment from the heart. No matter which path you take, taking time to add good energy to your food is a great way to turn every meal into a sacred experience.

Gratitude
When we take a few moments to feel or speak our gratitude for the food we enjoy, we transform the whole process into something truly magical. Gratitude relieves anxiety, opens the body to receive nutrients more readily, calms worry, and removes negativity. Just saying a simple 'thank you' can change everything~!

Prayer
Adding a prayer or petition for healing, joy, abundance, and growth in whatever way you choose can saturate your food and the eating experience with spiritual energy and deep sense of well-being. Many spiritual and religious traditions across the world value praying over a meal as a deeply transformative experience.

Sharing
Taking time to share the food you have and treat others is a great way to make food symbolic of celebration, joy, and love. The more we share and enjoy together, the more good things we attract to our lives! When you have the ability to share with your friends, family, or even with strangers by donating to local charities - make it happen!

Bon Appetit!

2013 Color Trends

I am so excited about the trending colors for 2013! Some of my personal favorites have come up this year, and I've even been able to design several pieces in the Tabelina shop that reflect all of the best colors for this year.

I'd like to introduce you to a few of this year's most popular colors so far and see what you think about them all...

Easy Blues
From light blue to seafoam green, cooling and calming blues are all the rage right now. People are finding that lighter blue shades seem to go with everything, and they bring a playful and joyful energy to any look.

Yellow
Yellow, especially lemon yellow, is huge this year. This playful color brings energy and light to any look and you may be surprised just how complimentary it is to a variety of other shades.

Pastelles
In line with the easy light blues and yellows above, pastelles and other lighter colors are also big this year so far. These colors tend to light the look of an outfit into a light and playful place while keeping it classy and clean.

Playful Purples
I am so excited to be seeing so many shades and tones of purple this year! From lilac to royal, it seems like purple is taking center stage. I love this color because it's classy and sleek without losing touch with a playful and positive energy.

Bringing The Outside Inside

Did you know that one of the best ways to improve the look, feel, and health of your home is by bringing the outside inside? That's right - house plants and flowers bring energy tin your home that nothing else can, and they even offer some pretty spectacular health benefits that your whole family will love!
Like plants living outside, indoor house plants and flowers are alive. In order to live, they need to take in carbon dioxide form the air and create oxygen in return. They clean and provide us with fresh air to breathe at the same time!
In addition to helping purify the air in our homes, plants add a sense of living, vital energy to any room. There's something about a house plant that that creates a positive change in a room that lifts the mood and adds something truly special to any space.

From house plants in potted soil to fresh flowers in vases, it's simple to add beautiful energy to your home that looks good, keeps the air clean, and charms your guests. If you don't have plants in your home, this is  a great time of year to bring one home. Even if you don't have a 'green thumb' you'll find that many plants are a breeze to take care of!

The Power Of Taking 5

Let's face it - we're all busy and it seems like we get busier every day. Stress and strain are the leading causes of many diseases, and the more hustle and hassle we deal with the less life we end up really living. The good news is that making positive changes for our health and well-being can take as little as 5 minutes! Today, I'd like to share some simple 5 minute ways you can change your life by reducing stress, caring for your body, changing your perspective, and opening up possibilities.

Many of us sit at a desk for hours at a time, commute, eat on the run, and sleep shallowly. All of this adds up over time, and it can take a real toll on our bodies and minds. By taking breaks throughout the day in health and empowering ways, we can give good healing energy where it's needed most while enjoying more of our lives!

Here are some simple things you can do throughout the day to reduce stress, increase health, and put a smile on your face - all in 5 minutes or less!

  • Do slow belly breathing for 3-5 minutes while thinking happy thoughts
  • Get up and go for a walk down the hall, around the building, or around the block
  • Stretch for 5 minutes
  • Get up and go drink some water
  • Say positive things to yourself while taking a brisk walk
  • Smile
  • Call a family member or friend and catch up while you take a slow walk
  • Try to find items in each color of the rainbow without leaving where you are right now
  • Listen to your favorite song and sing along
  • Wash you hands, then give yourself a gentle face massage
  • Give your eyes a rest by closing them and visualizing good things for 5 minutes
  • Enjoy a piece of fresh fruit after taking time to appreciate the colors, texture and smell is has
See how easy it can be?

Add some of these simple things to your day every hour or two and you just might find that you have more energy, less stress, less soreness, more focus, and greater overall happiness!
