Sacred Food

Everybody loves to eat! Food is a way to celebrate life, family, friends, and the good things on our path. But did you know that food can also be a deeply spiritual experience that helps us create more joy, inspiration, health, and connection in our lives?

For thousands of years people have said prayers and blessings over their food as a way to honor the power of sustenance and to express their gratitude. Sometimes these blessings and prayers are specific to a particular religion or tradition, while other times they are just a sentiment from the heart. No matter which path you take, taking time to add good energy to your food is a great way to turn every meal into a sacred experience.

Gratitude
When we take a few moments to feel or speak our gratitude for the food we enjoy, we transform the whole process into something truly magical. Gratitude relieves anxiety, opens the body to receive nutrients more readily, calms worry, and removes negativity. Just saying a simple 'thank you' can change everything~!

Prayer
Adding a prayer or petition for healing, joy, abundance, and growth in whatever way you choose can saturate your food and the eating experience with spiritual energy and deep sense of well-being. Many spiritual and religious traditions across the world value praying over a meal as a deeply transformative experience.

Sharing
Taking time to share the food you have and treat others is a great way to make food symbolic of celebration, joy, and love. The more we share and enjoy together, the more good things we attract to our lives! When you have the ability to share with your friends, family, or even with strangers by donating to local charities - make it happen!

Bon Appetit!

  1. Couldn't agree more. Simply, yet very true. Little things such as gratitude go a long way. It is easy to forget how fortunate we are some times. Thanks for sharing!
