How To Shop & Change The World

As we all start the process of gift buying for the holiday season this year, I wanted to share a few really great ways that you can help make a positive impact on the world while checking off each person on your list this season!

Buy Local
Supporting local businesses in your community is an excellent way to put funds and energy directly into the hands of the people who make your area what it is. Local businesses are often part of a chain of small business supports, so when you shop local, you are taking great care of small businesses and are adding money and attention to your local economy.

Support Small Business
Whenever possible, it's always a great idea to support small businesses. The people and ideas that make a small business happen are what makes this country great - and you'll often find that service, product quality, and longevity at a small business can't be beat!

Buy Handmade
Buying handmade items is a great way to show your love for those on your gift list this year while supporting artisans at the same time. Artisans who create by hand often support other small businesses and independent trades making the economy more robust and stable while honoring their personal gifts and talents at the same time. A win-win situation!

Go DIY!
If you have an artist within, this is a great year to try your hand at making some of your holiday gifts. Support local craft shops to get your supplies, and rely on books and community classes to learn how to get the job done. Nothing celebrates the holiday season better than a one-of-a-kind handmade gift from the heart!

Go With Meaning
Instead of buying random gifts this year, take time to choose items that will make a positive impact on the people you gift to. Jewelry, clothing, books, and gadgets that have a deeper positive purpose are all great ways to give a gift that keeps on giving!

Happy Holidays!

3 Simple Ways To Feel Better NOW!

Let's face it, some days we wake up and just don't feel our best. Stress, fatigue, thoughts, and other influences can take a toll on us under the radar, and when it all adds up they can even wear us down enough that we end up sick. The good news is that when you have a bad day where you just don't feel so great, there are some simple things you can do to get proactive and choose to change things around for the better!

Here are three simple ways to feel better now that I rely on all the time. Whether it's deadlines and stress at work or emotions and fatigue, these three simple techniques can make all the difference in the world.

Hydrate
This may sound too simple to be effective, but trust me - it works! Our bodies are around 70% water. Our brains rely on water to function properly, our tissues need water to operate at their best, and water can and does influence our mood and our immune system. If you feel bad, try taking a 5 minute break and enjoying a tall glass of clean, room temperature water. You may be surprised at what happens!

Eat
That's right... you can eat your way to feeling great! Many mood and imbalance issues stem from bad foods, preservatives, salts, and other things our bodies get tired of dealing with every day. When you don't feel your best, try a fresh salad, fruit smoothie, or other healthy treat to boost your body and mind with essentials.

Think
One of the best things we can do to change the game when things aren't going so well is to change ourselves. Spend a few minutes thinking about things you are grateful for, remembering good times, or visualizing yourself being surrounded in love and healing energy. These brief and basic meditations often spark a chain reaction that creates serious mood shifts and healing!

It's just that simple to take positive action and make great changes in your life!

Give To Receive

As we celebrate the holiday giving season, I wanted to share a few simple ways that you can share your own blessings with those who may be in need.

When many people think of giving to charity, they immediately think of money. Financial contributions are always needed by most all charities, but time and energy are just as important! Volunteering your time, energy, talents, and abilities are great ways to ensure that the people in your community - or the people who are involved with a cause that you are passionate about - get everything they need this season.

No matter who you are, you've got something to share that can make this world a better place to be... and this is the perfect time of year to share it!

Here are some simple ways that you can add positive energy and positive change to the world this giving season...

  • Volunteer your time at a local food bank, and bring along any extra non-perishable items you may have around your own home.
  • Connect with local community action programs to see how you can help at their next fundraising event. If you are an artist, local business, or if you have a great talent - chances are they can put you to work!
  • If you have a creative talent or own a business, this is a great time of year to sponsor a raffle, auction, or giveaway that directly benefits a charity.
  • As your family prepares for the holiday season, get everyone in on doing something special for an individual, family, or supporting agency in need. While you pick up all the goodies for your festivities, get a few extra things to take to a local shelter or food bank.
As you can see, it's easy and fun to participate in making the world a better place to be!

Simple Ways To Cultivate Gratitude

When it comes to cultivating more gratitude in your life, sometimes it can seem like a big task. The world these days seems complicated, and when challenges come up it can be really easy to forget to see the good that always surrounds us. Since we're in the season of thanksgiving I thought I'd share a few simple tips that have helped me in remembering to be grateful and thankful no matter what life brings me each and every day.

See The Small Stuff
Sometimes the things we should be the most grateful for are the things that we forget to notice because we're used to them or because they may seem small in comparison to other things happening in our lives. Taking time to really feel grateful for friends, family members, having a job, our spirituality, our health, and positive things that happen in our lives like a great meal or beautiful weather can truly change it all!

Remember The People
Sometimes it's easy to overlook the people in our lives because we are so accustomed to them 'being there' all the time. Taking time to feel and express gratitude for friends and family is a great way to bring more positive energy into our lives!

Go Natural!
The world around us is an unending source of things to be grateful for. From flowers and animals to weather and seasons. Take time each day to see the amazing things happening around you in the natural world and enjoy the many blessings it sends to you!

Hand Bag Styles For Fall 2012

As we roll in to fall, I'd like to introduce you to some of my newest handbag styles for the season. Fall is all about natural tones, subtle shades, and gentle tones that allow the natural world around us to add color and interest to our personal styles. I've created three bags in particular that speak to the seasonal style this year while adding elegant, energy, and beauty to your own personal look.
The Sarah over sized clutch in nude is a great color and design compliment for the lush fall season. This bag works great as a casual catch-all and as an addition to a formal or dressed up day or evening look. See it here.
The Amanda yellow tote is the perfect homage to the fall 2012 season and it has room for you to carry cold weather clothing changes and your daily essentials without having to deal with a bulk bag! This tote looks amazing with any personal style and will fit in with the color scheme of the natural world perfectly no matter where you go. See it here.

For those upscale nights on the town, company celebrations, family gatherings, and pre-holiday festivities, the Francesca gold clutch style bag is the perfect compliment. Light and energetic while being classy and refined at the same time, this bag is the perfect accessory to any dressed up look! See it here.

Wishing you a beautiful fall season!

The Season Of Gratitude

Now that November is in full swing, we are officially in the season of gratitude and thanksgiving - one of my favorite times of year!

As a personal goal, I am going to try to choose a mindset of gratitude each and every day all month long with the hopes that it will cultivate anew level of gratitude thinking that will continue to change my life in amazing ways!

As you probably already know, being grateful and having an attitude of thanksgiving can change everything. The more we recognize and celebrate the big and small blessings in our lives, the more we attract the same! Just like people, life is more apt to send us good things when we are receptive, grateful, and joyful.

I'd like to share a few ideas with you that will help keep you in the mode of gratitude all season long...

  • Go above and beyond to say 'thank you' to people this month. Express your gratitude verbally and try not to let even the smallest favor or blessing go unrecognized.
  • take time each day to count your blessings and to say thank you to yourself, your life, the people in it, and the world around you.
  • As you lay down in bed to sleep, review your day and find at least 5 things that happened to feel truly grateful for.
  • When something great happens to someone you know, try to feel gratitude and thanksgiving on their behalf.

This is a great month to change your mind and create waves of positive energy through the practice of gratitude!

Happy November!

The Power Of Giving

November is known for being the month of gratitude due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but did you also know that this is the perfect month to get charitable?

As the cool weather months approach in some places, and as the holidays grow near, the importance of sharing what we have with those who have less becomes more important. During this time of year, it's the perfect opportunity to clean closets, raid pantries, and find extra funds to share with those who are in need.

I love taking this season as a chance to go through all of my winter clothing to see what others may need. I also like to think ahead for the big holidays and figure out simple things I can do to make a difference in people's lives.

If you have extra time, money, or goods that you can share with your community - now is the time to do it. This is the most important time of year to share because the weather can be extremely hard on the homeless and those who cannot afford winter clothing or provisions. This truly is the season of sharing!

I encourage each of you to go above and beyond this year to share, give, and empower!
