Happy New Year 2013

The time has come to say goodbye to 2012 and start anew with a brand new cycle and a brand new world of possibilities to embrace!

The New Year marks a time when we can set intentions, create goals, and make positive changes in our lives to create a better year ahead. There is so much power and positive energy around the New Year celebration that it shows up across the world as it brings people together.

New Year's Eve is a time when we can choose to release things from the past that no longer serve us. We can explore the year before and see if there are things that need to change in order for us to get the most out of our lives. We can also get proactive and look at how to create the things we do want in our lives and use the changing of the calendar to mark a new beginning and fresh step on a new journey.

The New Year is completely filled with new potential and possibilities... what will you create in 2013?

From the Tabelina family to yours, Happy new Year!

Winter Solstice

Tomorrow is winter solstice! This wonderful time of year has been celebrated across the world in countless cultures in a variety of colorful ways. Based on the movements of the earth, the winter solstice is the moment when the night is at its longest and the day is at its shortest. Because of the short days, the weather tends to hit it  coldest at this time of year and snow tends to find its way to many lands.

Winter solstice may seem like the darkest time of the year, but in many cultures its actually the time when we celebrate the return of the light. Since it marks the longest night of the year, the day after the winter solstice starts the process of the sun hours getting longer each day. Starting on winter solstice, the days become longer and longer until they reach their greatest length at the summer solstice.

Candles, fires, warm food, and celebrations are all great at the time of the winter solstice as we celebrate bringing back the light into the world. Many religious and spiritual celebrations happen at this time of year because it represents the triumph of light over darkness.

As the light returns this year, I hope you find yourself surrounded by warmth, energy, and a beautiful New Year ahead!

Writing Your Way To Success

Did you know that one thing the world's most successful and happy people have in common is that they journal? Keeping a journal is celebrated by many spiritual traditions and self-help paths across the world because it really works!

When we take time to write down our thoughts, feelings, fears, and goals each day, we are able to step outside of ourselves and see things in a new light. Sometimes having a conversation in our own minds allows us to have the 'a-ha!' moments we need to make serious changes along the way.

Journaling doesn't have to be a chore, and you may be surprised to find that it's actually simple, fun, and really effective! Many people journal at night right before they retire to bed so that they can fall asleep with a clear and grounded mind.

When journaling, you can write full stories about your day and the things in your heart and on your mind, scribble, doodle, or make lists. There's actually no right or wrong way to work with a journal - just open it up and put the pen to the paper!

Many people are surprised to find that when they journal, new ideas and solutions to problems come to the surface almost like magic. This is because the rational and intuitive minds find a common ground in the practice of free-writing, and some pretty amazing wisdom and personal empowerment can come to light.

If you don't want to have a physical journal, there are many free online journals you can use that can be set to public or private viewing. Owning a blog can be a fun way to share your life with loved ones, or just share personal and private ideas in a safe place that you can access anytime you want.

Get your write on!

How To Shop & Change The World

As we all start the process of gift buying for the holiday season this year, I wanted to share a few really great ways that you can help make a positive impact on the world while checking off each person on your list this season!

Buy Local
Supporting local businesses in your community is an excellent way to put funds and energy directly into the hands of the people who make your area what it is. Local businesses are often part of a chain of small business supports, so when you shop local, you are taking great care of small businesses and are adding money and attention to your local economy.

Support Small Business
Whenever possible, it's always a great idea to support small businesses. The people and ideas that make a small business happen are what makes this country great - and you'll often find that service, product quality, and longevity at a small business can't be beat!

Buy Handmade
Buying handmade items is a great way to show your love for those on your gift list this year while supporting artisans at the same time. Artisans who create by hand often support other small businesses and independent trades making the economy more robust and stable while honoring their personal gifts and talents at the same time. A win-win situation!

Go DIY!
If you have an artist within, this is a great year to try your hand at making some of your holiday gifts. Support local craft shops to get your supplies, and rely on books and community classes to learn how to get the job done. Nothing celebrates the holiday season better than a one-of-a-kind handmade gift from the heart!

Go With Meaning
Instead of buying random gifts this year, take time to choose items that will make a positive impact on the people you gift to. Jewelry, clothing, books, and gadgets that have a deeper positive purpose are all great ways to give a gift that keeps on giving!

Happy Holidays!

3 Simple Ways To Feel Better NOW!

Let's face it, some days we wake up and just don't feel our best. Stress, fatigue, thoughts, and other influences can take a toll on us under the radar, and when it all adds up they can even wear us down enough that we end up sick. The good news is that when you have a bad day where you just don't feel so great, there are some simple things you can do to get proactive and choose to change things around for the better!

Here are three simple ways to feel better now that I rely on all the time. Whether it's deadlines and stress at work or emotions and fatigue, these three simple techniques can make all the difference in the world.

Hydrate
This may sound too simple to be effective, but trust me - it works! Our bodies are around 70% water. Our brains rely on water to function properly, our tissues need water to operate at their best, and water can and does influence our mood and our immune system. If you feel bad, try taking a 5 minute break and enjoying a tall glass of clean, room temperature water. You may be surprised at what happens!

Eat
That's right... you can eat your way to feeling great! Many mood and imbalance issues stem from bad foods, preservatives, salts, and other things our bodies get tired of dealing with every day. When you don't feel your best, try a fresh salad, fruit smoothie, or other healthy treat to boost your body and mind with essentials.

Think
One of the best things we can do to change the game when things aren't going so well is to change ourselves. Spend a few minutes thinking about things you are grateful for, remembering good times, or visualizing yourself being surrounded in love and healing energy. These brief and basic meditations often spark a chain reaction that creates serious mood shifts and healing!

It's just that simple to take positive action and make great changes in your life!

Give To Receive

As we celebrate the holiday giving season, I wanted to share a few simple ways that you can share your own blessings with those who may be in need.

When many people think of giving to charity, they immediately think of money. Financial contributions are always needed by most all charities, but time and energy are just as important! Volunteering your time, energy, talents, and abilities are great ways to ensure that the people in your community - or the people who are involved with a cause that you are passionate about - get everything they need this season.

No matter who you are, you've got something to share that can make this world a better place to be... and this is the perfect time of year to share it!

Here are some simple ways that you can add positive energy and positive change to the world this giving season...

  • Volunteer your time at a local food bank, and bring along any extra non-perishable items you may have around your own home.
  • Connect with local community action programs to see how you can help at their next fundraising event. If you are an artist, local business, or if you have a great talent - chances are they can put you to work!
  • If you have a creative talent or own a business, this is a great time of year to sponsor a raffle, auction, or giveaway that directly benefits a charity.
  • As your family prepares for the holiday season, get everyone in on doing something special for an individual, family, or supporting agency in need. While you pick up all the goodies for your festivities, get a few extra things to take to a local shelter or food bank.
As you can see, it's easy and fun to participate in making the world a better place to be!

Simple Ways To Cultivate Gratitude

When it comes to cultivating more gratitude in your life, sometimes it can seem like a big task. The world these days seems complicated, and when challenges come up it can be really easy to forget to see the good that always surrounds us. Since we're in the season of thanksgiving I thought I'd share a few simple tips that have helped me in remembering to be grateful and thankful no matter what life brings me each and every day.

See The Small Stuff
Sometimes the things we should be the most grateful for are the things that we forget to notice because we're used to them or because they may seem small in comparison to other things happening in our lives. Taking time to really feel grateful for friends, family members, having a job, our spirituality, our health, and positive things that happen in our lives like a great meal or beautiful weather can truly change it all!

Remember The People
Sometimes it's easy to overlook the people in our lives because we are so accustomed to them 'being there' all the time. Taking time to feel and express gratitude for friends and family is a great way to bring more positive energy into our lives!

Go Natural!
The world around us is an unending source of things to be grateful for. From flowers and animals to weather and seasons. Take time each day to see the amazing things happening around you in the natural world and enjoy the many blessings it sends to you!

Hand Bag Styles For Fall 2012

As we roll in to fall, I'd like to introduce you to some of my newest handbag styles for the season. Fall is all about natural tones, subtle shades, and gentle tones that allow the natural world around us to add color and interest to our personal styles. I've created three bags in particular that speak to the seasonal style this year while adding elegant, energy, and beauty to your own personal look.
The Sarah over sized clutch in nude is a great color and design compliment for the lush fall season. This bag works great as a casual catch-all and as an addition to a formal or dressed up day or evening look. See it here.
The Amanda yellow tote is the perfect homage to the fall 2012 season and it has room for you to carry cold weather clothing changes and your daily essentials without having to deal with a bulk bag! This tote looks amazing with any personal style and will fit in with the color scheme of the natural world perfectly no matter where you go. See it here.

For those upscale nights on the town, company celebrations, family gatherings, and pre-holiday festivities, the Francesca gold clutch style bag is the perfect compliment. Light and energetic while being classy and refined at the same time, this bag is the perfect accessory to any dressed up look! See it here.

Wishing you a beautiful fall season!

The Season Of Gratitude

Now that November is in full swing, we are officially in the season of gratitude and thanksgiving - one of my favorite times of year!

As a personal goal, I am going to try to choose a mindset of gratitude each and every day all month long with the hopes that it will cultivate anew level of gratitude thinking that will continue to change my life in amazing ways!

As you probably already know, being grateful and having an attitude of thanksgiving can change everything. The more we recognize and celebrate the big and small blessings in our lives, the more we attract the same! Just like people, life is more apt to send us good things when we are receptive, grateful, and joyful.

I'd like to share a few ideas with you that will help keep you in the mode of gratitude all season long...

  • Go above and beyond to say 'thank you' to people this month. Express your gratitude verbally and try not to let even the smallest favor or blessing go unrecognized.
  • take time each day to count your blessings and to say thank you to yourself, your life, the people in it, and the world around you.
  • As you lay down in bed to sleep, review your day and find at least 5 things that happened to feel truly grateful for.
  • When something great happens to someone you know, try to feel gratitude and thanksgiving on their behalf.

This is a great month to change your mind and create waves of positive energy through the practice of gratitude!

Happy November!

The Power Of Giving

November is known for being the month of gratitude due to the Thanksgiving holiday, but did you also know that this is the perfect month to get charitable?

As the cool weather months approach in some places, and as the holidays grow near, the importance of sharing what we have with those who have less becomes more important. During this time of year, it's the perfect opportunity to clean closets, raid pantries, and find extra funds to share with those who are in need.

I love taking this season as a chance to go through all of my winter clothing to see what others may need. I also like to think ahead for the big holidays and figure out simple things I can do to make a difference in people's lives.

If you have extra time, money, or goods that you can share with your community - now is the time to do it. This is the most important time of year to share because the weather can be extremely hard on the homeless and those who cannot afford winter clothing or provisions. This truly is the season of sharing!

I encourage each of you to go above and beyond this year to share, give, and empower!

Happy Halloween!

The season of spooky is officially upon us, and I am so excited to see all of the children dressed up tomorrow night!

This is a great time of year to prepare for seasons changing and to think about what you'd like to do with your own personal style in the cool months to come. At this time of year, many people find themselves going through boxes and bins to pull out jackets, sweaters, coats, and gloves. This can be a great time to think about how you'd like to dress this year - and to find some great items to give to charity along the way.

One of the greatest assets that comes from starting to prepare for winter at this time of year is that you'll end up getting first pick of some of the hottest fashions of the season.

This is also a great time to shop and plan for your winter look because this is the time when most designers launch their cold weather styles. If you get in on the fashion action now, you'll end up getting the best in fashion without all the hassle!

If you've got some favorite pieces, collections, or designers for the upcoming winter season, use the comments section below to share them with us!

Happy Halloween!

Why Every House Should Have Houseplants

Have you ever noticed that homes and offices with an abundance of live plants tend to smell better, feel better, and have a healthier feeling air quality? It may just be that keeping plants in your house can give you and your family endless benefits!

Here are a few reasons why keeping a live plant in as many rooms in your home as you can may be a great choice to make for your family's health and wellness...

Relaxation
Plants and flowers have a naturally calming and reassuring effect on the mind. They soothe tempers, create tranquility, and generate a sense of well-being.

Air Purification
Plants and trees are nature's air purifiers. They breathe in the stuff we breathe out and turn it into clean air for all! Having live plants in your home can drastically improve the air quality and even cut down on allergens and sickness!

Good Energy!
Plants are believed to change the mood of a room, calm intense energies, and ground out other energies that may cause problems. Just having a live plant in your home can create a sense of peace and natural harmony instantly!

if you don't keep houseplants because you don't have a green thumb, have no fear! There are many types of plants that need little to no care, and many houseplants are specific varieties that don't need to be re-potted or fed often. Keeping your house plant near a pet's water bowl, fish tank, kitchen window sill, or mirror can be an easy way to remind yourself to give it some water whenever you give water to your pets or clean parts of your home.

As many of us come into a season where plants outside go dormant, having vibrant plants inside can be a great way to combat seasonal depression and sadness.

Happy planting!

4 Healthy Snacks To Eat Instead Of Junk Food

If you're like me, you have a craving for sugar and sweets throughout the day that could get you in a lot of trouble if you followed through on all of them! The good news is that there are several low-fat, low-sugar, and all-natural options you have to enjoy in place of those processed sugary treats... and kids love these, too!

1) Fruit

Many fruits are totally sweet-tooth satisfying! Pears and strawberries are my favorites!

2) Smoothies

Making a fruit smoothie with organic yogurt or soy milk is a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth, get some extra energy, and avoid a soda pop or other sugary treat.

3) Peanut Butter

In moderation, peanut butter on apple slices, whole grain bread, or mixed with fruit is a great way to get a boost of energy, a smile on your face, and a solution for sugar cravings.

4) Granola

Packed with grains and dried fruits, granola can be a great sweet treat with or without milk anytime you need it. Go for the varieties that are low in sugar and high in good grains.

Enjoy snacking and satisfying your sweet tooth while making great choices for your health as well!

The Importance Of Being Positive

When it comes to being happy, healthy, and spiritually empowered, there;s little that can work miracles in your life more than choosing to be positive. When we stay positive we look for the small blessings that surround us at every moment and allow them in without limit. We understand that challenges and negativity do happen, but we never sign up to keep them.

Being positive allows us to rise above the drama and challenges to see them for what they are - lessons and opportunities. Using only thoughts and ideals that support and nourish us is the best way to prevent ourselves from being dragged down by others or changed by moments in life when things simply aren't going as well as we might like them to be.

In order to think positively, we simply need to cultivate more gratitude. Negative thinking usually stems from not being able to see how amazing life is. When we believe that life is out to get us or that things are rarely 'right' and 'good', our minds switch over to thinking that way all the time.

Right at this very moment you can choose to identify the negative thoughts that come up in your mind and intentionally replace them with something positive. The more we are willing to see the good, the more good we'll get!

5 Reasons To Start Holiday Shopping Right Now

Many of us wait until the last minute to get our holiday gifts, but did you know that you can save a lot of time, money, and stress by starting your shopping right now? Getting your gifts taken care of early allows you to take advantage of pre-holiday clearance sales, better shipping rates in many cases, and more inventory as stores and online shops haven't yet sold out of their goods.

Each year I try to start my shopping as early as I can - and I find that I save money, stay calm, and am able to take the time to find truly meaningful gifts for the people on my list.

Here are the top 5 reasons to get your holiday shopping underway right now!

1) You may find that many stores begin selling out of items or raising prices as demand becomes higher. Since most people wait until the last minute to get their holiday shopping done, you can avoid the high costs and sold out inventories by starting yours now.

2) Many stores offer pre-season clearance sales to help make new for fresh inventory shipments. This is a great time to take advantage of some of the year's best sales!

3) The more stress free you stay when shopping the better! Giving yourself plenty of time to handle all of your shopping means that you'll make better choices and have a clear enough mind to pick truly spectacular gifts!

4) If you shop online, buying early gives you plenty of time to get your purchases in the mail, inspect them, and make any needed exchanges. Last minute online shopping often doesn't allow enough time to get things to you without paying for expensive fast shipping rates.

5) If you get your shopping done now, you can spend the holiday season enjoying instead of running around!

Here's to a wonderful holiday season ahead!

Fall Handbags From Tabelina

Fall is just about upon us, and it's time to get your style in season!

As the weather cools down, many people find that they carry around more items with them than usual. Having an extra jacket, gloves, hats, and other cold weather gear on hand ensures that you are always comfortable and always have what you need to stay warm and safe. I've designed several bags to give you the space and the style you need this Fall, and I can't wait to introduce them to you!

The AMANDA handbags are the perfect size for Autumn. They combine a slightly over-sized design with the perfect colors to compliment any personal look. Here's the ever-popular AMANDA bag in black...

As you can see, there's nothing but room with this design! You'll be able to bring along whatever you need without dealing with a bulky bag or several smaller bags at the same time.

The AMANDA bags are made from high quality smooth leather and the colors are simply stunning! They come with royal blue twill lining and a top compartment zipper that makes sure whatever you put in your bag stays there. The strong double handles make this bag simple to carry and easy to incorporate with any Fall or Winter look.

My favorite of the three AMANDA bags for Fall has to be the yellow...

5 Ways To Organize Your Bag Or Purse

Face it - if you're like most women, you've probably got way more in your bag or purse than you really need. It's easy for us to collect and add things to our bags because we usually always have them on hand - but the clutter, disorganization, and weight can actually cause more stress than good. I'd like to share some ideas that will help you clear out the clutter and get your bag, tote, purse, or clutch organized in no time... and you might even be surprised at what you find along the way!

1) Start from scratch. Empty out the contents of your bag on to a table top. Just pile it up! Then, wipe our even vacuum out your bag to give yourself a clean slate.

2) Organize everything you have into sections: makeup, personal care, business cards and documents, wallet and finances, medications, and an 'etc.' pile. Take some time to figure out what you really need. I mean really need! Put everything you don't need into its own pile.

3) Use cloth bags, coin purses, plastic seal bags, or old mint tins to create compartments. Keep a few paper clips on hand to keep any loose papers in a nice bundle. Keep your personal care, hygiene, and health items in a dollar store pencil box or a cloth bag to keep them clean. Keep makeup in a plastic zip tight bag just in case a spill ever happens.

4) Give yourself permission to use your glove box, office drawers, and home drawers better. A lot of the clutter in your bag can be stored elsewhere. Use your glove box and office drawers at work to store backup medications, hygiene items, spot removers, and other necessities instead of keeping it all in your bag.

5) Make it a habit to do this process once every 3-4 months. You'll be glad you did!

Check out the bags and clutches of all sizes available now at Tabelina!

Enjoy!

Drink To Your Health!

Did you know that herbal tea is a truly effective way of bringing more healing to your life? For thousands of years, various cultures have relied on the healing powers of herbs, roots, leaves, flowers, and tea to help with a variety of imbalances and issues. In the modern day, we too can benefit from nature's healing power by adding delicious herbal tea to our diets.

When most people think of tea, they think of green or black tea. These teas are reputed to be very good for us - but tea doesn't stop here! In addition to the common green and black teas, herbal teas are also available. These teas are made from the leaves, roots, stems, and flowers of a variety of plants and trees.

Some of the most popular types of herbal tea include rooibos, jasmine, chamomile, licorice root, and rose hips. These herbs don't just taste great - they actually provide our bodies and minds with healing as well!

You can use herbal tea to help you sleep, reduce anxiety, fight inflammation, calm your stomach, reduce allergies, clear the lungs, or even help cultivate deep meditation and prayer states. The list is endless!

If you're a fan of tea, take some time to try and test various herbal teas to find out why they are a popular choice for so many people!

Remember that if you are pregnant, nursing, or if you have a specific illness or disease, it's a good idea to talk to your doctor before using herbs or teas to make sure they're right for you.

The Beauty Of Blue

Blue is one of my favorite colors to work with, and I include it in many of the jewelry and accessory designs I create throughout the year. This timeless color is at once classy and refined while being light, playful, and energetic at the same time. I love it!

Blue has a long history of being work for beauty, healing, and meaning...

Blue is believed to create a calming and serene atmosphere for those who wear it or see it.
Blue represents the emotions, and allows us to calm and cleanse them without suffering.
Blue is a regal color that is worn by many religious figures, saints, and sages
Blue is the color of the sky which reminds us of the infinite.

There are several amazing gemstones that come in blue including aquamarine, blue quartz, lapis lazuli, sodalite, and labradorite. These stones bring the natural blue color to life and allow us to surround ourselves with it easily.
Blue is a great color to wear as the seasons change, and there are many ways to blend it with your unique style this year!

Enjoy!

The Power Of Giving

One of the most important things we can do in life is share ourselves and our resources with the people and places around us. Giving allows us a special opportunity to make the lives of others so much more powerful, and there's no doubt that we each benefit whenever we give in so many countless ways.

Many people choose to use a small percentage of their income for charity while others give time, energy, or wisdom in service of community programs or global efforts. No matter what you do, you're doing a great thing!

A great way to find a charitable organization to support from afar or to work with directly is to look at your own passions. Do you know someone living with autism, multiple sclerosis, or cancer? Look at charities that help raise funds and awareness for those illnesses to do your part. Are you a serious animal lover? The Human Society and various no-kill shelters are always in need of money, time, and supplies. Love nature? Volunteer to clean up a local park, help build a safe trail, or give your time teaching kids at a local community garden.

No matter what your own abundance and time schedule may be, there are countless ways that you can help change someone else's life - and your own - through the power of giving!
