5 DIY Uses For Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is by far one of my most favorite plants. I love the cactus and succulent look it carries, its fragrance, and the low-maintenance way in which it grows. This is a truly must-have plant in any home, and its beauty is rivaled only by its countless healing benefits. Today, I'd like to share just 5 of my favorite ways to use aloe vera as a home remedy. Enjoy!

Minor Burns

Grabbed a hot pan? Oil splatter? Match burned down too far? Aloe vera comes to the rescue! A little fresh aloe vera gel applied to mild burns can help bring on soothing relief and protection for your skin while the healing starts. While you should not use aloe on severe burns, it's a great remedy to have around for those common household accidents.

Bites & Stings

During this time of year many people complain about constant bug bites and the irritation they bring. A dab of aloe vera gel can stop itching, swelling, and irritation at the site of a big bite or sting while soothing and helping the skin to heal at the same time.

Cold Sores

It turns out that applying fresh aloe vera gel to cold sores can help sooth the heat and irritation they bring while also helping to cleanse and heal the area at the same time. Apply the gel generously throughout the day and be surprised at how fast you heal!

Stretch Marks

Applying aloe vera gel liberally every day can help deliver nutrients to the skin that may help shrink stretch marks naturally!

Removing Eye Makeup

A little aloe vera gel and some gentle massaging can help take off your eye makeup without the use of harsh, potentially dangerous chemical makeup removers.

If you don't have an aloe vera plant growing in your home, now is the perfect time to adopt one! Cut just what you need from the tips of the leaves using sharp scissors or a clean utility knife. Over the time the plant will self-propagate and make aloe vera babies you can transplant into other pots or areas of your garden!

Enjoy!
