Special Needs In Miami – You Can Make A Difference!

One of the most amazing things happening in Miami – and in the country – is The Friendship Circle. This program involves teenagers in helping, mentoring, and befriending children who have special needs. At a time of year when many children are out of school and aren't getting as much socializing as they are used to, this can turn in to a very lonely season. The Friendship Circle ensures that children with Autism, developmental disabilities, debilitating injuries, or other special needs get the friendship, activities, and care they need to succeed.

Each week, children who participate in The Friendship Circle program get weekly visits from their new-found teenage friends. They’ll get to engage in a variety of ways and attend all kinds of amazing events throughout the year as well! Teens can visit children with special needs at home, for outings, or at community events to make sure that every child gets as much attention as possible.

The teens involved in The Friendship Circle program go through extensive training to help them be compassionate, concerned, and creative friends to the children they connect with. In addition, the teens get access to lots of helpful resources that help them find activities and events that are accessible to the kids for free or at low costs.

At a time when fewer and fewer resources are being given to children with special needs, the unique services of The Friendship Circle are more valuable than ever before. Who can put a price tag on the value of friendship, and who knows how healing these relationships really are?

As an active participant in and sponsor of The Friendship Circle, I ask you to share some of your energy and resources with us to ensure that we can connect with as many amazing children as possible this summer.

If you’re in the Miami area, volunteer! If not, a small donation of any amount will help this program thrive!

Thank you!
